Priority First FCU Holds Grand Opening, Ribbon-Cutting at Clearfield Branch - FINANCIAL-24

Priority First Federal Credit Union held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event Friday afternoon at its Clearfield branch office. It is located at 214 N. Second St., Clearfield.

Priority First offers deposit products, which include: Share Draft (Checking); Regular Savings; Holiday Club; Vacation Club; Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and Share Certificates. It offers loan products, which include: Vehicle Loans, Student Choice Loans; Real Estate Loans and others.

According to its Web site, Priority First Federal Credit Union has its roots in the Brockway community, where it originated in 1969 as the credit union for employees of Brockway Glass, later known as Owens-Illinois.

Through the years, Priority First was granted community charters in both Jefferson and Clearfield counties. It subsequently opened membership eligibility to all who live, work, worship, volunteer, attend school or participate in associations headquartered in Jefferson and Clearfield counties.

Priority First would also grow through mergers of prominent companies, such as Brockway Press Metals in Brockway.

In 2007, the members of Secure Credit Union, which served school employees in the DuBois, Brockway, Brookville and Punxsutawney school districts, voted to merge with Priority First Federal Credit Union to expand their offerings and better serve their members.

In 2010, Member’s Choice-PA Federal Credit Union in DuBois merged with Priority First. Member’s Choice was formed to serve postal employees in the 158 zip code area, and later the employees of Maple Avenue Hospital, Equimeter and several other Select Employee Groups.

In 2017, Clearfield Stone Workers Federal Credit Union in Clearfield merged with Priority First. Clearfield Stone Workers was originally formed to serve the employees of Harbison-Walker Brickyard.

Over the years, Clearfield Stone Workers expanded their membership to include Clearfield Hospital, Kurtz Bros., Clearfield County Employees and several other Select Employee Groups.
