April is National Financial Literacy Month and People’s Credit Union has announced in a press release that they are showing their support by working with the Cooperative Credit Union Association on their Better Banking Better Values campaign.
Consumers that subscribe to Cox Communications throughout Rhode Island will have the opportunity to view Better Banking, a new monthly 30-minute financial education program that will run weekly; Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m on the YurView Channel (Cox Cable Channel 4 and 1004.) Paul Gentile, President & CEO of CCUA introduces the Better Banking program, and begins the show by sitting down to talk about financial literacy with Seth Magaziner, General Treasurer of the State of Rhode Island.
People’s Credit Union will be featured in the April episode with Courtney Hunter, Marketing Manager, interviewing Richard Garland, a financial education teacher at North Kingstown High School. Garland has taken an instrumental role in bringing the RI Financial Scholars program, sponsored at no cost to the high school by People’s Credit Union, to his students.
Powered by EverFi, a technology-based financial literacy platform, students learn how to make sound financial decisions. Ellen Ford, President & CEO of People’s Credit Union is also interviewed about the important contributions made by Rhode Island Credit Unions and how People’s Credit Union’s product and services are designed help individuals and families achieve financial success. Ford stated, “Financial education is extremely important at People’s Credit Union; we have made it one of our top priorities. We design all of our products to be educational for our members. People’s Credit Union is here to help. That is who we are.”
