MASTUNG: At least Twenty-five people were martyred and 36 others, including Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, injured in a suicide bomb attack in Mastung on Friday afternoon.
The blast occurred near the convoy of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri who was going to a Madrassa to attend a ceremony.
Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has been airlifted to CMH Quetta. His condition, as per Balochistan government's spokesman Anwar ul Haq Kakar, is "safe and sound".
A Senate director staff, Iftikhar Mughal, was reportedly killed in the attack.
Security forces have cordoned off the area. The injured were shifted to Mastung Civil Hospital, while those in critical condition were moved to Quetta for treatment.
An emergency has been declared at Civil Hospital Mastung and more doctors have been called in, hospital sources said. Quetta hospitals have also declared an emergency.
Several vehicles were also destroyed in the terrorist attack.
The wounded persons are being shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The critically wounded persons will be taken to Quetta.
Haideri's driver, along with two other associates, succumbed to their injuries. The majority of those injured and killed were JUI-F party workers, rescue sources said.
Talking to media, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri said, "I am alive, Allah has saved my life. It was a sudden blast. Broken pieces of the windscreen hit me. I am injured but safe. The driver and other people sitting next to me were badly injured."
President Mamnoon Hussain has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Mastung today in which several people were killed.
In a statement on Friday, he expressed the resolve to provide protection to the masses through eradicating the terrorism from the country.
The President prayed for the early recovery of injured people including Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri. He directed the concerned authorities to provide all possible assistance to the injured people.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned attack on the motorcade of Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in Mastung on Friday. He expressed his deep concern for the well-being of Deputy Chairman Senate and prayed for his swift recovery.
The Prime Minister expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the blast on the convoy in Mastung. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure best medical treatment for those injured during the attack on immediate basis.
He also prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.
Minister for State for Informational and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb also strongly condemned the blast and said the terrorists cannot deter the government's commitment to root out terrorism from the country.
Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has condemned the attack on the convoy of Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in Mastung.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi have strongly condemned the bomb blast in Mastung.
They expressed heartfelt grief and sadness over the loss of precious lives in the attack and prayed for the early recovery of Deputy Chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and the others injured.
They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and also extended their condolence to the bereaved families.
The Chairman Senate strongly condemned the suicide bomb blast in Mastung killing around eight people and injuring several others, including Deputy Chairman Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
He said terrorists cannot deter nation's resolve against militancy through such coward attacks. The House also offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has announced emergency in all hospital of Quetta and District Mastung. He condemned the explosion in strong words.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan condemned the recent suicide attack in Mastung in which at least 25 were martyred and dozens injured.
While expressing grief at the terrible blast, Imran Khan told Pakistan's enemies are trying to spread unrest in the country, adding that the authorities need to overlook internal and external threats. He demanded complete investigation of the blast and accountability of those responsible.

It must also be mentioned that renowned politicians including JI Chief Siraj-ul-Haq, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, PAT Chief Tahir-ul-Qadri and others inquired about Haideri s health and expressed grief at the tragic suicide attack.
The blast was termed suicide in nature by Mastung DPO Muhammad Ghazanfar according to the available evidence. He told, "No evidence was found to call it a device attack."
While some injured are being treated within Mastung's hospitals, others were shifted to Quetta Civil Hospital and CMH. Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Umar Riaz also visited Quetta CMH and inquired about the health of blast victims.
Chairman Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned bomb blast in Mastung in which several innocent lives were lost and Senate Deputy Chairman Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidry was injured among several others Friday.
In a press statement, the PPP Chairman said that controlling the Jinn of terrorism was collective responsibility of entire nation and its institutions.
He expressed solidarity with the victim families of Mastung blast and prayed for early recovery of those injured including Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidry.
Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned the blast on Friday, in Mastung area of Balochistan.
The Minister in a message, expressed shock and grief over the loss of precious lives and injuries to others including Deputy Chairman Senate, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in this tragic incident.
He sympathized with the bereaved families and prayed that may Allah grant them the courage to bear the loss of their dear ones. He also wished complete recovery to those who sustained injuries in the blast. - NNI
