University Credit Union Announces New President & CEO - FINANCIAL-24
University Credit Union Board Chairperson Norma Iadevaia announced that Dr. David Tuyo has been named President & Chief Executive Officer. The decision was unanimously approved by the University Credit Union Board of Directors. Tuyo assumed the role of CEO on Monday, July 17, 2018. “I’m very pleased to announce that the person best suited and uniquely qualified to be our next President & CEO has been selected” said Iadevaia. “The Board of Directors owed it to our members and employees to conduct a nationwide search and consider all candidates. We chose David because he is a values-driven, member focused, strategic leader who is respected throughout the credit union industry. His education and experience are a perfect fit and we are excited to have him lead UCU into the future.”
Dr. Tuyo started in the financial services industry at the turn of the millennium. He advanced through several leadership roles serving financial institutions in almost every functional area. Prior to joining University Credit Union, he served as Senior Executive Vice President Chief Financial and Operations Officer at Power Financial Credit Union. Tuyo holds nearly a dozen industry certifications and designations, including a BS in Finance, an MBA, and a Doctorate of Business Administration. He is also a graduate of the CUES CEO Institute and the Cardwell 306 Leadership program. Tuyo is invested in the Credit Union movement through service, both current and in the past, on National Association of Federally Insured Credit Unions Regulatory Affairs Committee, CUNA Councils, League of Southeastern Credit Union’s Innovation Committee, and the CFPB’s Credit Union Advisory Council.

Tuyo and his wife Amber will be residing in Los Angeles with their two children.
