ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has summoned the National Assembly session on Tuesday at 3:00 pm to elect new leader of the house.  
The President has summoned the National Assembly session in exercise of powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution, said a press release of the National Assembly secretariat.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly Secretariat has announced schedule for election of new Prime Minister.
According to the schedule, the nomination papers were required to be obtained from the office of the Secretary National Assembly on July 30.
While, the nomination papers will be received till 2 pm on July 31, following which Speaker National Assembly would make scrutiny of the papers at 3 pm on the same day.
Election for the prime minister will be held on August 1 (Tuesday), for which President Mamnoon Hussain has already summoned the National Assembly session at 3 pm.
After the election, the new prime minister will take oath of his office. The President will administer the oath. After taking oath, the new Prime Minister will constitute the federal cabinet.
The process to obtain nomination papers for the election of new leader of the House in the National Assembly has begun.
So far Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khursheed Shah and Shaikh Rashid Ahmed have obtained the nomination papers from the office of the Secretary National Assembly. 
The papers will be received till 2 pm on Monday, while the Speaker National Assembly will scrutinize the papers at 3:00 pm the same day.
The President has already summoned the National Assembly session on Tuesday at 3 in the afternoon.
After the election, the new prime minister will take oath of his office. The President will administer the oath.
PML-N has nominated Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as interim Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and nominated interim Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says the decision of the Supreme Court has been implemented and his party is putting forth every effort for continuity of democratic process in the country. 
He was addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Sunday evening after meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He said we have implemented court's decision despite our view that neither the people of Pakistan nor the international community has accepted it and even history will also not accept it.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the party is taking all decisions, including formation of cabinet, through consultation.
Replying to a question, he said he has faith in the power of the people and does not any references or allegations.
Responding to a question regarding whether Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan would be included in the next cabinet or not given the recent rifts, the interim PM nominee said that the decision had not been taken as yet. "Chaudhry Nisar has always been a part of PML-N and it will always be that way for us."
"To my understanding of legal matters, there is no harm in possessing an iqama - it's just a visa - but nowadays, laws are being interpreted in ways that are stranger than ever. I have disclosed all my assets and their details are published in the Pakistan Gazette. So those levelling baseless allegations [against me] should check their own acts first," he maintained.
Speaking on the occasion, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said as coalition partners his party stands by PML-N in this testing hour. He said after the decision of Supreme Court, PML N took the right decision in the best interest of the democratic process of country.
He said his party will support PML N so that country's journey towards progress and prosperity continues without any hurdle.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said he has called meeting of his party for consultation and as coalition partner it will apprise PML N regarding its opinion and decision.
He said we all should work together to take the democratic process of the country in a forward direction. 
Earlier, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has stepped up efforts to court collision partners' support for election of new prime minister following the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In this connection, a delegation of the PML-N led by Nominated Interim Prime Minister Khaqan Abbasi called on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JIU-F) chief Maulana Fazl Urrehman at his residence.
The two sides discussed Tuesday's election of a new prime minister in National Assembly as the Supreme Court has disqualified Nawaz Sharif following the investigation into corruption allegations against his family.
The ruling party has named Shahbaz Sharif as Nawaz Sharif's successor, but he must first enter parliament by contesting the seat left vacant by his elder brother.
PML-N, which enjoys majority in National Assembly, has nominated ex-oil minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as interim prime minister.
On the other hand, the opposition is also chalking out its strategy to come up with a unanimous candidate against Abbasi.
Meanwhile, the nominee of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for Prime Minister's slot Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is the son of a renowned politician Khaqan Abbasi, who was killed in Ojhri Camp incident on Aril 10, 1988.
The 58 years old Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was born on December 27, 1958 in Karachi. He got his early education from Karachi. Abbasi is married and has three sons.
He completed his education from Lawrence Collage, Murree and then went to University of California and got the degree of Electrical Engineering and started his career as Electrical Engineer from metropolitan city. He got his Master degree in 1985 from George Washington University.
He had also served in United States of America (USA) on different crucial posts and went to Saudi Arabia and served in the Oil & Gas department there. He started participating in country's politics after the death of his father former minister Khaqan Abbasi in 1988 and since then he had been elected the member of the National Assembly 6 times from NA 50 Murree.
He is the owner of Airblue; and previously served as Chairman of Pakistan International Airlines from 1997 to 1999 during the second Sharif's ministry.
He served country on important positions including Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources from 2013-2017. He had introduced the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal and import of gas and thus control the shortage of gas in the country.
He remained in jail for two years during Musharraf's era and was acquitted by the court in 2001. - NNI
