Sam Nelson to join CFE Federal Credit Union as Senior Vice President/General Counsel - FINANCIAL-24
Sam Nelson will join CFE Federal Credit Union as Senior Vice President/General Counsel effective February 1.
Previously, Nelson was a partner with Burr & Forman LLP where he served as outside counsel for the credit union. A significant portion of his legal practice over the years involved the provision of legal services to federal and state chartered credit unions. He has represented credit unions for over twenty years regarding matters ranging from collections to commercial real estate transactions.
Nelson is a fifth-generation Floridian from Suwannee County, Florida. He attended the University of Florida in 1987 and was awarded a Bachelor of Science, with honors, in Public Relations, from the College of Journalism and Communications. In 1991, he was awarded a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law. His professional career began as an attorney with Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed P.A. (1991-1995), then as a partner at Graham, Builder, Jones, Pratt & Marks, LLP (1995-2009) and a partner at Burr & Forman LLP (2009-2018).
Sam Nelson succeeds Kevin Miller, who will become President and CEO of CFE on April 1 following the retirement of President and CEO Joseph A. Melbourne, Jr.
