WAH CANTT: Interior Nisar arrived at Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) in Wah Cantt to attend the Labour Day ceremony despite security concerns as informed by the intelligence agencies.
The Interior Minister has said that if security agencies could not offer protection, then it would raise a question mark on their performance.
Security forces had warned the Interior Ministry of terror activities on May 1 and suggested to postpone the ceremony. However, despite security threat, Nisar insisted to visit the POF complex.
Addressing participants gathered at an event to mark World Labour Day, Chaudhry Nisar said that he had received a report which had warned that a suicide attack could take place at the venue today.
Interior Minister told if labourers are not safe then he doesn't care about his own protection, adding that the Labour Day ceremony will occur as per the schedule.
"It doesn't matter how dangerous it was to attend today's gathering, I had to come here no matter what," he said. "Your task is to give the report, I will decide whether or not I will attend the event or not," he added.
Chaudhry Nisar said that he was a straight-forward person who was not a hypocrite but said whatever he had in mind regardless of fear. During his speech, Nisar also slammed the Musharraf-led government for not doing anything for labourers.
"Musharraf imposed a black law on labourers," he said. "Workers and labourers got their allowances in Nawaz Sharif's government," he added.
The ceremony was attended by various federal ministers. In one of the statements, he said if security agencies cannot protect POF complex then it raises questions about their ability. - NNI
