Connex CU helps fund 'Miracles' With $2,000 donation to Connecticut Children's Medical Center - FINANCIAL-24

Throughout September, Connex Credit Union partnered with Credit Unions for Kids during its national Miracle Jeans Day promotion. The credit union collected donations from members and employees for Children’s Miracle Network Hospital: Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. Employees that donated five or more dollars were permitted to wear jeans to work.

Donations were made at all local Connex branches, as well as through the Miracle Jeans Day website. This campaign was part of ConnexCares, Connex’s philanthropic initiative, and the credit union pledged to match contributions up to $1,000. This goal was eventually achieved and a check worth $2,000 was recently presented to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. This donation will help the hospital staff continue conducting breakthrough research and implementing life-saving equipment.

“It warmed my heart to witness the selfless contributions from both Connex employees and members to support Miracle Jeans Day,” said Carl Casper, vice president of customer advocacy, Connex. “Making a difference within the communities that have embraced us is a core value of our company and we are elated for the opportunity to help improve the quality of life for the young patients of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.”

The originator of Miracle Jeans Day, Credit Unions for Kids, is a non-profit collaboration of credit unions, chapters and business partners from across the nation. These groups engage in fundraising activities that benefit 170 hospitals in the Children’s Miracle Network by funding cutting-edge research and helping to develop new innovative technology. Each year these hospitals treat nearly 10 million patients. A donation as small as $5 could buy a blanket for a baby or a blood pressure cuff designed for tiny arms.
