Cy-Fair Fcu awards one-year of free mortgage payments to special education teacher at Cypress Falls High School - FINANCIAL-24
Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (Cy-Fair FCU) is excited to announce that Lansing Brown, a special education teacher at Cypress Falls High School, will receive a year’s worth of mortgage payments totaling $24,000 ($2,000 every month for 12 months). Brown was presented with the surprise award during last week’s Cy-Fair Educational Foundation’s “Salute to the Stars” gala.“It felt surreal when they called my name; I couldn’t believe it was happening,” said Brown who expressed feeling “very blessed for everything Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union has done for our school district.” Brown added that the credit union is an “integral part of the community” and her family — her daughter will be the third generation to work in the school district and be a member of Cy-Fair FCU.
The gala, which took place at The Richard E. Berry Center, celebrates the contributions of Cy-Fair Independent School District educators and recognizes the top teachers from around the district. Principals from each of Cy-Fair’s 88 schools nominated a “Spotlight Teacher” to be honored at the event. Nominees were then entered into a random drawing for the credit union’s one-year of mortgage giveaway.
Lansing was named a “Spotlight Teacher” for her work with developmentally disabled students at the Dorothy Carlton Center, where she worked prior to joining the staff of Cypress Falls High School this fall.
“Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union was originally started by and for the many outstanding educators who have helped build one of the best school districts in the country,” said Cameron Dickey, the credit union’s president and CEO. “Our Spotlight Teacher Mortgage Giveaway is our way of honoring our historic connection to the school district, as well as supporting and giving back to those who give so much to our local students, families and communities.”
“Our educators give so much to their students each year, and our Spotlight Teachers have gone the extra mile to make an impact,” said Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. “When a longtime partner like Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union gives a prize of this magnitude, our classroom leaders feel valued for their additional effort. I commend Cy-Fair FCU for making this long-lasting contribution to Ms. Brown.”
Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital was this year’s event underwriter for the “Salute to the Stars” gala which helps raise money for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation. Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union was also the Red Carpet Premier Sponsor for the event.
